At little sparks nursery we ensure all our children are provided with nutritious meals and snacks throughout their time at nursery. Our very own nursery chef provides fresh home cooked meals offering a wide variety of food groups throughout the day/ week. We have a 4 weekly menu which offers children daily helpings of fruits and vegetables with our menus also offering our children a children’s choice meal option where children vote for a meal. The most popular options wins but we always add in vegetables to our winning vote. Alongside this we also offer a meal from around the world where we cook traditional meals for children to explore their different senses through a range of textures and tastes. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day for children to freely access, younger children are supported and encouraged by staff. Milk is provided for snacks and breakfast times.


The nursery holds a 5 staff food hygiene rating , all staff hold food hygiene and allergy training
All staff have undertaken food safety and allergy awareness training. Children who have an allergy or intolerance will be added to the diet requirements list for all staff to see. We also ask parents to complete a allergy questionnaire. The chef will follow food safety guidance when preparing and serving children food with allergies alongside all our staff. We do not sit children separate form others with allergies but we take steps within our practice to minimise the cross contamination during meal times such as staff deployed next to children with severe allergies. We are also a nut free setting
